Warning: Spoilers for Greenland 2: Migration

What Happens in Greenland 2: Migration (2026)?

Greenland 2: Migration focuses on the Garrity family five years after the comet impact, when they are forced to escape their collapsing bunker in Greenland and embark on a treacherous journey across Europe in search of a supposed haven in Southern France. Along the way, they must deal with environmental chaos, dwindling resources, and hostile survivors as they look for a new beginning for humanity. In a sequel that offers more action, Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin reprise their roles as John and Allison, guiding their son through a post-apocalyptic world full of volcanic activity, storms, radiation, and desperate people.

Who are the Main Characters, and How is the Acting?

This time around, the characters are less developed. It’s assumed that everyone watching has already seen the first movie and understands it. The acting is decent, and you can tell they’re putting their all into it. Gerard Butler carries the emotional weight of the movie. Bocarrin takes a back seat to his character through most of the film.

Is Greenland 2: Migration (2026) Technically Well Made?

Martin Ahlgren is an Emmy award-winning cinematographer. unfortunately most of his work is on television, and it shows. The cinematography is bleak, atmospheric visuals that use muted colors to show hope, and an immersive, realistic feel. unfortunately the visuals are less effective than the first film. The ruined landscapes are effective but lack any excitement. Vincent Reynaud worked with the director before on Kandahar, but you have to wonder if the pairing is a mismatch.

What’s Good and Bad in Greenland 2: Migration (2026)?

While most of the movie is boring and formulaic, there are some gripping scenes of survival. My favorite is the ladder crossing scene. unfortunately they are few and far between. Most of the time, the cast stares wistfully into the camera.

Final Verdict: Should You Watch Greenland 2: Migration (2026)?

This sequel extends the earnestness of its predecessor, oscillating between randomly killing side characters and becoming sentimental about its harshness. While it attempts to present an optimistic view of post-disaster life, its emotional depth is neither well-rendered nor memorable. Greenland 2: Migration lacks the coherence and engaging action of the original, often resembling uninspired fan fiction. It delves into themes of humanity’s fate rather than maintaining a gripping narrative. The film is action-oriented compared to its predecessor. But it’s so generic that it ultimately falls short as an engaging sequel.

    Overall: Skip Greenland 2: Migration

I’m giving Greenland 2: Migration 3 out of 5 stars because it doesn’t have the charm of the first film and falls into lazy tropes.
