Recap Resident Alien (2025): S4E03 – “Ties That Bind”
In a flashback, an Indigenous woman tells her daughter about the Star People. Meanwhile, in the present, Kayla (Sarah Podemski) reads to Daisy, Ben, and Kate’s baby from a comic book. A seemingly normal painting on the wall matches a handprint on the rock wall in the past.
Dale (Linden Porco) helps Harry open a time travel portal, carrying a torch for the Red Menace. Harry plans to retrieve alien tech from the ’70s, hoping to trade it with the Greys. Asta opposes D’arcy going, but Harry chooses him over her, as D’arcy is unafraid to die.
Sahar presents Manticide Spray to the Alien Tracker Club, while Max arrives late and is angry that they started without him. Max tries to rally the crew to defeat the Mantid, but they prefer their heads. Speaking of heads, Judy is interviewed for a news segment after a headless body is found in her motel. D’arcy watches her while counting change. Asta tries to convince D’arcy not to go with Harry.
Harry and D’arcy arrive in the ’70s but have to change clothes before retracing the alien ship’s landing. Harry reminisces about a fallen comrade and sings a beautiful tribute to D’arcy. It only sounds like a bunch of squeaks and squeals.
On the beach, McCallister meets her father, Howard, and they catch up on their lives. Harry demands that McCallister give him the alien tech, but she refuses, claiming it’s for her father. Back in the present, Kate, now on Earth, informs Ben that she has had her tracking chip removed. Ben insists they bring Liv into the fold, who believes in aliens. Liv shares her theory with Mike, who believes Joseph is behind the headless bodies. Kayla, who is now up to date on alien weirdness, visits Asta at the clinic and discovers the truth about Daisy, Ben, and Kate’s baby.
In the 1970s, Harry and D’arcy eat at the “Lobster Shack” during McCallister’s shift, using the cheap lobster dinner as a cover to search for alien tech. They discuss giving the tech to her father as proof of aliens’ existence to the government. Harry offers to kill the agents, but McCallister insists they’ll just keep sending more. D’arcy distracts Harry to check out McCallister’s vehicle. In the present, Lena introduces Jules Gardner to the group at the sheriff’s office, bringing a mini Firefly reunion. Meanwhile, Sahar learns Bridget is scared of cartoon vampires, and Max watches them from afar. In the 1970s, D’Arcy flirts with an officer, finding Harry in the driver’s seat with the alien tech.
D’Arcy discovers Harry’s plan to restore his powers, which could lead to the Greys destroying his planet. Harry questions the worth of being an alien and decides to remove the alien device. He returns to his time with D’Arcy, and Heather, who saved Max, brings a surprise: she has given birth to Harry’s babies.
Overall: Watch Resident Alien (2025): S4E03 – “Ties That Bind”
Resident Alien season 4 focuses on highlighting various characters and allowing individual moments to shine, enhancing D’Arcy and Kate’s performances. However, Max’s arc feels awkward compared to Sahar’s wit. The cast’s chemistry is crucial, but the flow may be stiff until more engaging moments occur. Despite this, the season is building towards significant reveals.
This episode isn’t the best of the season, but it’s still great. So I’m rating it four stars.
