Star Trek: Picard (2020) – Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) |
Star Trek: Picard is coming and CBS has released the premiere date of the first episode. Star Trek: Picard is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, January 23, 2020. It’s scheduled to run for ten episodes on the subscriber streaming platform CBS All Access.
The studio released a new teaser that’s full of action including a shot of Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) blasting away with twin phaser rifles. The teaser is set to a haunting rendition of Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies”. There’s a special meaning for the song since Data (Brent Spiner) sang the song at Riker and Deanna’s wedding shown in Star Trek Nemesis.
In its first season, like Star Trek: Discovery, a new episode will air every week although the full schedule hasn’t been announced.
The series is set at the end of the 24th century and picks up 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). The story follows the retired admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) who’s still affected by the destruction of the planet Romulus mentioned in the Star Trek (2009). He’s also haunted (literally?) by the death of his android friend Data in Nemesis.
The show stars Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, the former captain of the USSC-Enterprise and now a retired admiral living on his family vineyard. Isa Briones plays Dahj a young woman who comes to him looking for help. Alison Pill plays a doctor named Agnes Jurati. Santiago Cabrera plays pilot Chris Rios who’s a former thief and Starfleet officer. Michelle Hurd plays Raffi Musiker a former Starfleet intelligence officer who’s struggling with substance abuse. She’s joined by Harry Treadaway who plays her partner a Romulan agent Narek. Evan Evagora plays Elnor who’s a Romulan refugee and an expert fighter. Several cast members from Star Trek: Generations are coming back including Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, Marina Sirtis, and Jonathan Frakes.
The studio is so excited about the show CBS All Access has already renewed Picard for a second 10-episode season. The show’s coming in a few weeks. Call me…engaged.
