10 Facts About Krysten Ritter, AKA JESSICA JONES

Deadline announced (and Marvel confirmed) that Krysten Ritter has been cast as ex-superheroine Jessica Jones in the upcoming Netflix TV series. The series AKA Jessica Jones will be based on the comic series about a superheroine whose PTSD forces her to retire and become a private detective. Here’s your chance to catch up on Ritter and what she brings to the series.

    1. Ritter was born on December 16, 1981 in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania. Yes, that’s an actual place.

    2. She started out her career as a model at the age of fifteen. She worked steadily ever since high school, doing runway, magazine, and catalog work in New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Milan.

    3. In 2001, Ritter quit modeling to focus her attention on acting.

    4. Ritter is best known for her roles as Jane Margolis on AMC’s Breaking Bad and the lead Chloe on the ABC comedy Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

    5. She has appeared in films such as What Happens in Vegas (2008), 27 Dresses (2008), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), and She’s Out of My League (2010). She’s also appeared in the television series Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, Gravity, ‘Til Death, and Veronica Mars.

     6. At 5’9″, Krysten Ritter is quite tall, so she’ll bring a statuesque look to the character.

    7. Ritter is also a writer, who sold a TV pilot she wrote based on her experiences as a model, and also wrote an as-yet unproduced female-buddy comedy screenplay.

    8. As if that’s not enough, she plays guitar and sings in a band called Ex Vivian

    9. She did an ad for PETA to promote awareness of the dangers of leaving dogs in hot cars.

    10. After Apartment 23 was cancelled, she was supposed to appear in an NBC comedy pilot Assistance, but it wasn’t picked up to series. The same thing happened when she was announced as the star of another TV show Asthma, and an NBC NASA-inspired comedy Mission Control. Let’s hope Jessica Jones doesn’t endure the same fate.

Bonus: Despite claims to the contrary, she’s not related to John Ritter.

I've only seen her on Breaking Bad. I could use 10 Facts about Jessica Jones, which would be 10 more than I currently know.
