Review: Additionally arriving this Wednesday is Absolute Martian Manhunter #12. It all comes together for me in this issue: life and death, family, free will and fate, crime and punishment. I found this finale unlike anything else in comics right now — the script and Rodríguez’s art gel perfectly. Even with some gripes about how quickly the John/Tyler conflict resolved, I enjoyed it enormously. This series has captured my imagination for months, and watching the first Absolute book reach a true, satisfying ending feels bittersweet but rewarding. I’m giving this my highest recommendation — and I already know I’ll like it even more on a reread.

Review: Further down our list is Amazing Spider-Man #32. I found this issue of Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man #32 to be an emotional standout, and critics agree, scoring it 10/10 and 8.5/10. As a Spider-Man comic fan, I loved seeing Peter Parker’s shifting family dynamics, the growing respect between Spider-Man and Tombstone, and the unconditional bond between Peter and Raelith. Review: Further down our rotation is Beast of Boriken #1. I found this comic book by Julio Anta and Daniel Irizarri to be a powerful debut, and it’s clear I’m not alone — critics are giving it near-universal acclaim, with scores ranging from 7.5 to a perfect 10. This Chupacabra reimagining hit me as more than a monster comic; it’s a horror story rooted in Puerto Rican folklore, culture, and identity that made me think about greed, overdevelopment, generational trauma, and cultural erasure. As someone drawn to stories with real-world weight, I appreciated how it reads as an allegory for resistance against oppression, wrapped in Afro-Caribbean speculative fiction. Irizarri’s art struck me as visually striking and detailed throughout. Review: Next for your collection is Killer Influences #1. I couldn’t put Killer Influences #1 down — this new IDW Crime comic hooked me with its razor-sharp take on true crime culture and internet fame. As a fan of serial killer thrillers, I found the writing avoids the typical whodunit formula, since we already know the killer and what drives him, and instead focuses on the twisted partnership between two people chasing infamy. The Pacific Northwest setting and well-crafted artwork give this IDW comic imprint launch real atmosphere, though an abrupt time jump near the end stood out to me. This IDW crime imprint debut is a must-read for anyone into dark, character-driven storytelling this July.

This comic left me thinking harder about morality in this galaxy far, far away than I expected from a Marvel Comics one-shot.
