There has been months of speculation and casting rumors about the Spider-Man casting involving everyone from Danny Donald Glover to Asa Butterfield. Marvel Studios finally announced the name of the actor playing the next Spider-Man: Tom Holland.
For those that aren’t familiar with him, Spider-Man was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962). In the comics, teenage Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive spider and gets spider-like abilities including super strength and the ability to stick to walls and ceilings. He uses his genius-level intellect to build a set of artificial web-shooters that lets him shoot webbing.
In a statement Marvel said, “Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts.” While Holland is a virtual unknown Marvel says “The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in ‘The Impossible,’ ‘Wolf Hall,’ and the upcoming ‘In the Heart of the Sea,’ and by a series of complex screen tests.” Of all the actors that tried out for the role only Holland screen tested with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans who will be co-starring in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
Honestly, we would have preferred to see Marvel go in a new direction and cast a Black actor as Spider-Man. But it’s still great to see Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s an exciting time for all fans.
Since most people know nothing about him, we put together this infographic to tell everyone a little about the next actor playing Peter Parker the Amazing Spider-Man.

Do you mean Donald Glover? Danny Glover seems too old for that (stuff). Have not watched The Impossible but maybe now I will.
I just realized he was born the year I graduated high school. I am so old.
Nice Infographic! Since he is British we need a Spider-Man, Doctor Who crossover. 😉
Helpful infographic. I haven't heard of this actor before.
