The most significant collision of two Marvel Universes to date will occur when Daredevil: Born Again debuts on Disney+ next month. In addition to Netflix’s Marvel Universe, which aired from 2015 to 2019, there is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which debuted in 2008. Throughout the last few years, Marvel has attempted to reconcile the well-documented dichotomy. Work that is likely to go on.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of television, admitted that there has been “exploration” into integrating additional characters from the Netflix realm into the MCU in an interview with Entertainment Weekly regarding Daredevil: Born Again. “I can’t say much, but I’ll tell you that it’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox,” Winderbaum said. “Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”
The main variables he is discussing are Iron Fist (played by Finn Jones), Luke Cage (played by Mike Colter), and Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter). In addition to Daredevil and The Punisher, each had a well-known Netflix series that culminated in The Defenders, akin to the Avengers. However, there has been no formal announcement on the other high-profile names, even though Daredevil and his supporting cast members, including Kingpin, Punisher, Foggy, Karen, and even Bullseye, will be returning for Born Again, which is set in the MCU. Naturally, fans have conjectured. Additionally, a number of the actors have expressed a desire to return, although nothing is final. Mike Colter is one of the few that may never return.
Or that we are aware of, anyway. A lot can happen on Daredevil: Born Again, which premieres its nine-episode first season on March 4. Preproduction is currently underway for season two.
Are the Netflix characters able to blend in with the MCU? Will the multiverse idea need to be introduced by Marvel? Which person would you like to see, and why is Jessica Jones the one? Tell us below in the comments. To read a ton more about Daredevil: Born Again, visit EW.
