People frequently remark, “You’ve never seen anything like this,” but it’s real in the case of the upcoming film Love Me. The human avatars of a buoy (Me / Deja) and a satellite (Iam / Liam), played by Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun, respectively. They fall in love long after humanity has vanished. Do you have any idea what that is? Doesn’t that sound nearly fake?
Later this month, on January 31, the movie will finally be released after debuting at the Sundance Film Festival the previous year. That means critics have spent the entire year trying to explain this unique and thought-provoking film to people using just the image you see above. Finally, the new movie has a trailer that effectively conveys its ambitious, comprehensive breadth.
Only two performers who don’t play humans are included in the new film, set across ten billion years. It is incredibly ambitious and rich in scale and concept, combining theatrical theater, animation, and nature cinema elements. The film, written and directed by Sam and Andy Zuchero, aims to convey the full extent of celestial existence in a condensed 90-minute package while allowing a contemporary audience to experience it in a very particular way. It’s Wall-E in real life, told across various media, including two amazing actors.
We’ll see if it works. It will only be available in theaters on January 31.
