Paramount Pictures broke out a few days ago, showing the eagerly anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog 3 trailer, which stars Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog, to an exceedingly patient and devoted fan base of Sonic fans. However, the Sonic fanbase is often quick to pick things up, particularly when it comes to theory crafting Sonic 3, which teases the arrival of Metal Sonic as yet another enemy.
Here’s the trailer
After an innocent scene, Robotnik (Jim Carrey) asks for something in return, and Sonic (Ben Schwartz) gives him one of his superpowered quills. Fans who went back to theory-craft the sequence even though the trailer skips over it to return to Shadow performing the Akira slide.
Dr. Robotnik created Metal Sonic, an evil robotic version of Sonic, on the Sonic the Hedgehog CD in 1993 to vanquish the title character. Dr. Robotnik created Metal Sonic in the 1999 anime film Sonic the Hedgehog by emulating his traits, behavior, and mentality into a mechanical creature.
The anime’s technical jargon about Metal Sonic’s ability to mimic Sonic’s thoughts is bizarre. But it makes sense that Dr. Robotnik would betray Sonic, as he frequently does, to use his quill to create Metal Sonic in a post-credit scene hinting at a fourth Sonic movie.
That or Sonic 3 will take a Godzilla vs. Kong approach, with Shadow riding a motorcycle alongside Sonic as they team up to take on Metal Sonic, um, Mechagodzilla.
According to a Reddit post, an Australian movie theater chain called Village Cinemas posted a movie description and then removed it.
“Join Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles for another fun-filled adventure this holiday season. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is coming to Village Cinemas for a star-studded event that you do not want to miss.
