Here are the early box office results of this past weekend Jun 11, 2018 – Jun 17, 2018
Week 24 Box Office Winner: Incredibles 2
Walt Disney’s “Incredibles 2” opened in the number one spot. It made a staggering $182.7 million domestically and a worldwide total of $232 million. The movie is the largest opening ever for an animated feature and is a huge win for Disney and Pixar. “Incredibles 2” has the eighth largest opening weekend of all time beating out Captain America: Civil War which made 179.1 million in 2016. It’s on track to make over 500 million domestically. It could also beat the highest grossing animated film of all-time “Finding Dory” which made $486.2 million in its domestic run.
In other box office news, Walt Disney’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story” dropped two spots to the number four spot in its fourth week. It lost 36% to make $10 million for a domestic box office gross of $194 million and a worldwide total of $340 million. It’s shocking to think a “Star Wars” movie is struggling to make over $500 million at the box office.
20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool 2” moved down two positions to the number 5 spot. It made 39% compared to last week to make $8.7 million for a domestic box office gross of $295 million and a worldwide total of $690 million.
Walt Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity War” moved three positions to the number eight spot in its eighth week. It only lost about 25% to make $5.4 million for a domestic box office gross of $664 million and a worldwide total of $2.02 billion. It’s now the first summer movie to gross $2 billion. It’s also the fourth film in history to make more than $2 billion worldwide.
