Could a classic Star Wars actor be joining Guardians of the Galaxy 3?
On Twitter, over the weekend a fan asked director James Gunn an awesome favor. Ian Fee asked Gunn if he could cast Mark Hamill in the next movie. He said, “[James Gunn], could you do me a huge favour and find a role for [Mark Hamill] in Guardians 3? The awesomeness of it might end me, but I’m willing to risk it.”
The 66-year old actor is best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the “Star Wars” movies. But he’s actually done some work in other Marvel projects. Mark Hamill voiced Dr. Oiler in Ultimate Avengers 2 and played Professor James Arnold in Kingsman: The Secret Service. This would be his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Surprisingly enough Gunn agreed and said, “I think [Mark Hamill] lives around the corner from me in Malibu so he can just come over and we can talk about it over a cup of coffee.”
Even more amazingly, Hamill heard about it and said he, “would be happy to do so, both as a good neighbor & an unemployed actor.”
The two talked about how to DM (direct message) each other and apparently continued the conversation in private.
Could the Jedi Master be playing a superhero soon? The awesomeness is too much for me to contemplate.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to be released in 2020.
Do you think Hamill should be in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie? Who do you think he should play?
