9 Reasons Idris Elba Should Never Be a Star Trek Klingon

Pacific Rim (2013) – Idris Elba

Here’s why Idris Elba should never play a Klingon. There have been a ton of rumors that Idris Elba will play a villain in the Star Trek Beyond. While Simon Pegg confirmed he wants him in a role it was never confimed until now. Ireland’s TV3 had an interview with the actor and he said “Almost everyone was a Trekkie, really, weren’t they? I wouldn’t say I was a hardcore one but I definitely watched that show a million times. Spock was probably my favourite character – and in this one I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto [who plays Spock].” So, hes definitely in.

A lot of fans have been wanting him to play a Klingon which would be a huge mistake. Here’s why.

    1. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock had Klingons and we need to stop remaking previous movies

    2. Not every dark skinned villain needs to be a Klingon. Ok?

    3. Idris Elba played Mandela

    4. Covering Idris Elba with makeup would be a crime against humanity

    6. No Klingon is more intense than Idris Elba anyway

    7. Simon Pegg promised a “kick-a$$ role” and anything less than a new villain would also be a crime against humanity

    8. Simon Pegg said he’s not a Klingon and he would never lie. Right..?

    9. Paramount, make him whoever you want but please don’t make him a Tribble

What do you think of Idris Elba joining Star Trek? What character would you like him to play?

      A tribble would be bad…
Always room to introduce a new race! One that doesn't require heavy makeup.

I love Idris, he can play role he is given. I'm not against the idea of him as a Klingon, but it would be nice to actually see him.
      Make him an Asgardian…oh wait…

#4. Absolutely #4. 🙂 Also, seriously, give us something new for the new series!!

    4. Maurice Mitchell on July 7, 2015 6:56 pm

Yeah he wears wigs and stuff in Thor and hates it. I can’t imagine what he’d do with all that heavy makeup on.

    5. Maurice Mitchell on July 7, 2015 6:57 pm

A Black Viking? That makes no sense David. Oh wait.

    6. Maurice Mitchell on July 7, 2015 6:57 pm

Something new is all we want Meradeth!

If he has scenes with Spock maybe he's a Vulcan, though that would be pretty messed-up unless he's a renegade Vulcan like Star Trek 5.

    8. Tony Laplume on July 8, 2015 12:41 pm

A Star Trek movie featuring Klingons could also be The Final Frontier, The Undiscovered Country, Generations, Star Trek Into Darkness…If he plays any previously established character, he'd make an awesome Richard Daystrom, which would hopefully make a better Daystrom story than "The Ultimate Computer."

I'm with Alex on this one.
