Professor X of the X-Men is a powerful and beloved figure, but he’s kind of a wimp. He’s intelligent, powerful, and wealthy, but he’s also kind of helpless in his wheelchair. Or at least, that’s what you’d think if you saw his movies and TV shows. Maybe it’s because it’s a good way to get the audience’s sympathy or maybe it’s because the writers don’t know what to do with him, but time and again, Professor X gets his butt handed to him. ScreenJunkies put together this supercut of the Professor’s worst moments.
What do you think of Professor X?

Maybe it's my Patrick Stewart bias, but I was always disappointed in the first two films for the way they basically used Xavier just to get him out of the way as quickly as possible. And they did it basically exactly the same way.
Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more. Professor X has always been one of my favorite Marvel Universe characters, but the majority of writers – whether in the comics or in most other media – don't seem to know what to do with him. He is considered one of the most powerful telepaths on Earth yet is often portrayed as a victim the team needs to save – or being a jerk with hidden, sinister agendas. The only moment I can recall Professor X being written as a true badass is when he (reluctantly) mind-wiped Magneto during the 'Fatal Attractions' crossover event in 1993. I miss his character in the current MCU and hope one day the character will reach his full potential in the hands of the right scribe.
