The Running Man (1987) – Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Damon Killian (Richard Dawson)

Hailing Frequencies open! Who is the greatest falsely accused murderer of all time in sci-fi films?

This week everyone is talking about O.J. Simpson who was acquitted of murder 20 years ago. Some think he’s innocent and some think he’s guilty, but it started me thinking about how often in movies and television people are falsely accused of murder. So here’s the question: Who’s your favorite falsely accused murderer?

    Here’s a partial list:

    • Ben Richards – The Running Man (1987)
    • John Spartan – Demolition Man (1993)
    • Marion Snow – Lockout (2012)
    • Brisco County, Jr – The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993)
    • John Crichton – Farscape (1999)
    • Adam Gibson – The 6th Day (2000)
    • David Banner – The Incredible Hulk (1978)
    • Vincent “Vince” Faraday – The Cape (2011)

Please post a picture or clip of your pick and why they’re your favorite. Thanks!

Note: If you need help adding a picture or video to your comment please read this Disqus article “Adding images or videos to comments.” If you still have trouble then let us know and we’ll help you out.

Check the comments for why I chose John Spartan.

Come back next week for the bi-weekly caption contest and comes back in two weeks for the next poll.

The Hulk could definitely kick all their butts. The greatest though in any genre is Dr. Richard Kimble, because Harrison Ford. And then the A-Team–the TV one not the stupid movie one. Which BTW I read yesterday that Mr. T never actually says "I pity the fool" in the show. It's like "Beam me up Scotty" apparently.

the first alien films up to the forth, the aliens were minding their own sleeping business. it's the humans that caused the aliens to wake up, meaning the aliens were wrongly accused. right? Maybe, Batman in the third film… they blamed him for the murder of Harvey Dent. all of the Bourne films… maybe? Transformers in the third film, they always get blamed. National Treasure… the family got blamed for helping assassinate Lincoln… Roger Rabbit got accused of whacking the head of the cartoon company… sorry i thought they might count.

      The Running Man.
Never in the history of movies has a man had to kill a bunch of guys to prove his innocence. It takes 12 Angry Men to a new level.

Hard to believe it's 20 years since the OJ Trial. That say's something about my age. 🙁

I'd have to say The Incredible Hulk. Not being much of a movie watcher, that's the one I remember best.

      I didn't kill my wife!
Wait, that's the Fugitive and not science fiction.
From the list, Brisco County hands down. Bruce Campbell – need I say more?

    6. DAVID WALSTON on June 13, 2014 2:34 am

Brisco County jr. You can't beat Bruce!

    7. Maurice Mitchell on June 13, 2014 2:55 am

      Campbell always wins Alex

    8. Maurice Mitchell on June 13, 2014 2:58 am

I like that Jeremy! The aliens are the victims. Roger Rabbit's good too.

    9. Maurice Mitchell on June 13, 2014 2:59 am

      The Chin rocks David.

    10. Maurice Mitchell on June 13, 2014 3:02 am

If it's a fight, then Hulk definitely wins Pat.The Hulk was like the Fugitive show so, in a way, Kimble was greater than Hulk. I didn't know he never said that though. I'll bet there are a bunch like that.

    11. Tony Laplume on June 13, 2014 7:43 pm

      John Anderton from Minority Report.
