Yeah, GODZILLA Teaser Sucked But Trailers Are Awesome [Godzilla]

    Godzilla (2014)

I infamously said the Godzilla 2014 teaser sucked,
but the trailers are amazing. Recently someone asked me what I thought
of the trailers and I realized I hadn’t been posting about them.
They’re amazing. Each one is better than the last one. So here’s the
latest Japanese trailer for Gareth’s Edwards Godzilla which has my new favorite line from the film: “Let them fight.” – Dr. Ichiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe)

Godzilla stomps into the US on May 16, 2014.

What you think of the trailer for Godzilla?

I'm super hyped about this movie. I think it's going to be great. Gareth did the film 'Monsters' a few years ago on $0 budget. So I can't wait to see what he does w/ Godzilla.

I think the Asian trailer is awesome. Saw it on JoBlo's site this morning. That other monster sure looks like Rodan…

    3. Pat Dilloway on April 29, 2014 2:06 pm

Some of them annoy me when they focus too much on humans. No one is going to a Godzilla movie to watch humans.

    4. Tony Laplume on April 29, 2014 2:27 pm

It's very calculated. But chances are there's more monster in there than all the human interest they're peddling.

    5. OHMEGAGORMARU on April 29, 2014 2:42 pm

The Godzilla movies are generally and always centered around humans, since Godzilla films are first and foremost, human-stories and how their lives are affected and how they have to deal with Godzilla(And any other monsters)

This is extremely clear within the original 1954 film which is what this 2014 origin film is extremely based on and inspired by. So generally people expect humans to have some manner of center stage, as it comes with Godzilla's territory as a whole.

    6. Pat Dilloway on April 29, 2014 3:06 pm

Whatever. If you challenge people to name one human character in any of the movies I doubt they could. The humans are a framing device, nothing more. People watch the movie to see the giant monster smashing stuff and when more than one monster to watch them fight each other.

    7. DAVID WALSTON on April 29, 2014 5:54 pm

I remember when they started to slow market it to us, we all wanted more. I guess we got our wish, with every trailer and TV spot getting better and better.
"Let them fight." Ken Watanabe just spoke the best line in the movie and we haven't seen it yet! I have my ticket, and can't wait to see this!

    8. spacerguy on April 29, 2014 7:54 pm

Godzilla is very big and terribly angry over something. We should have opened a dialogue with Godzilla and tried to establish peaceful first contact. Instead we goofed up big time.

    9. Rusty Carl on April 30, 2014 1:50 am

Looking forward to the movie. Love to watch giant monsters demolish cities. Yay.
