“The Piano Guys” (Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson) playing Star Wars songs on cellos |
What if the final lightsaber battle between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader used cellos instead of lightsabers?
The final duel on Mustafar between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader is one of the
greatest in Star Wars
history, but two guys took it one further. The Piano Guys dueled with
electric cellos played using lightsabers. They play a compilation of
John Williams’ greatest songs from Star Wars, all
while Darth Vader and Chewbacca join in.
Why did they do this? Because of their
“unending admiration of George Lucas, John Williams, and the most EPIC
movies and film score ever created.” Plus, Sharp Nelson’s 6-year-old
son thought it would be cool. After 70 days, more than 7,000 frames, 72
audio tracks, 24 hours of
green screen filming, several broken bows and strings, and over
1,000 hours of editing and rendering we have the video below and it’s
glorious.
Is this the most epic Star Wars lightsaber battle using cellos you’ve ever seen? Is it the only Star Wars lightsaber battle using cellos you’ve ever seen? What’s your favorite part?

Vadar with an accordion – hilarious! Weird Al would approve.
Lot of time and effort. Coolest and the ONLY lightsaber battle with cellos I've ever seen.
This was so cool to watch. Thanks for sharing it.
