If you’ve seen CWs new superhero show Arrow, then you’re eagerly awaiting the season 2 premiere. The show was hit-and-miss for me last season, but the first episode of Arrow, “City of Heroes” promises big things for this season.
Arrow tells the story of Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) a
billionaire playboy who moonlights as a crime-fighting vigilante trying
to amend for his father’s sins by cleaning up Starling City.
Co-star Colton Haynes who plays Roy Harper (aka Red Arrow) told MTV, “A few of the most important DC characters are going to be coming to Arrow. And quite possibly working in a team together.”
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told TV Guide, “We made no secret of the fact that we subscribe to the Whedonesque
model of having a big bad, and in Season 2, we’ll actually have two big
bads. They’ll both be very recognizable names to fans of the comic
book. We’re really excited about both of them.”
Who these are is still a mystery, but he promises strong villains this year. “With
Malcolm and the Dark Archer, we sort of had two big bads in one
person,” he says. “In Season 2, we’re going to split them up
essentially, and there will be a Malcolm-esque big bad and a Dark
Archer-esque big bad.”
I liked the idea of the “Dark Archer” but didn’t like that he turned
out to be Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) since they never clearly
explained where he got the training to me.
Here are some of the new additions to the cast this year.
Barry Allen aka Flash (Grant Gustin)
Grant Gustin will guest star in three episodes of Arrow
this season. He’ll show up as plain, unpowered Barry Allen in episode 8
and 9, but 20 will be an origin story that will serve as a backdoor
pilot to a possible spin-off show.
Here’s the official description:
BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant
police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a
series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy
in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow
unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has
brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.
It’s hard to take him seriously as a forensic scientist, since he’s so
young, but if we get another Flash TV show on the air it would be
awesome.
Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau)
Summer Glau plays Isabel Rochev on Arrow, the “beautiful and dangerous Vice President of Aquisitions
for Stellmoor International, a company looking to take over Queen
Consolidated.” The name Isabel Rochev was seen briefly glimpsed on Robert
Queen’s “list.”
Summer is a fan-favorite actor since her days on Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, so it’ll be exciting to see how she plays a villain.
Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson)
Cynthia Addai-Robinson plays Amanda Waller on Arrow and works for A.R.G.U.S. — Advanced Research Group United
Support — “a clandestine agency that has a mysterious agenda and
possesses key information about the Arrow.” In the comics, Waller runs
the Suicide Squad which includes Deadshot and Bronze Tiger.
In her early appearance in the comics she’s a very large woman with the nickname “The Wall,”
but they’re going for another average size woman like they did on Smallville. In the comics they slimmed down her character considerably, so it’s fine. Hopefully she can pull off the role.
Ben Turner aka Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White)
Michael Jai White is playing Bronze Tiger on Arrow this season and executive producer Marc Guggenheim calls him “a bada**.”
“His performance, our kick-a** stunt department, our incredibly
talented costumer designer, and our very gifted props master…they’ve
all combined their A-games to create a really great representation of
this DC Comics character.” Marc Guggenheim gushed “If you’re a fan of
the character from the comics, you are going to really happy with his
‘Arrow’-fication.”

Michael Jai White plays Ben Turner, a
claw-wielding assassin better known as Bronze Tiger, who’s well known
to DC Comics fans as a member of both the League of Assassins and the
Suicide Squad. On Arrow, he’ll form an unholy alliance with
fan-favorite villain China White (played by Kelly Hu), another
well-established character in the DC Comics universe.
It would be nice to get another strong black character on a superhero
show, so I’m all for it. I’m glad they got rid the goofy tiger hat the
comic character wears.

Sebastian Blood (Kevin Alejandro)
Kevin Alejandro will play Sebastian Blood on Arrow this season.
Here’s the official description:
Kevin Alejandro plays Sebastian Blood.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic New Teen Titans nemesis Brother
Blood, Sebastian is an alderman who rises to power in the wake of the
earthquake that devastated Starling City in Arrow’s first-season
finale. Blood’s “man-of-the-people” popularity instantly places him at
odds with Oliver Queen, whose family he blames for the quake.
Dinah Drake Lance aka Black Canary (Caity Lotz)
The biggest surprise of the season is that the character of Black
Canary is going to Caity Lotz instead of Dinah “Laurel” Lance (Katie
Cassidy).
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “The character [Lotz is]
playing is really the beginning of the story of the Black Canary …
Everyone knows that Laurel Lance is the Black Canary … But how we get
from A to B is the story of our show … Laurel Lance right now is a
lawyer with a lot of heart and a lot of humanity and courage. But it
takes more than that to put on the mask and go out and fight crime. Our
series is the evolution of that. People will see how Caity Lotz fits
into Laurel’s journey along the way. For us, it’s very emotional and
surprising and exciting. I would say to everybody, we haven’t let you
down so far. Keep going on this ride with us.”

FROM VIGILANTE TO HERO — Diggle (David Ramsey) and
Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) travel to Lian Yu in search of Oliver
(Stephen Amell) who left Starling City after The Undertaking. Convinced
to return home, Oliver finds that things are in worse shape than he
thought – Isabel Rochev (guest star Summer Glau) is preparing a hostile
takeover of Queen Consolidated, Thea (Willa Holland) refuses to visit
Moira (Susanna Thompson) in jail, Roy (Colton Haynes) is trying to fill
the void left by the Arrow’s absence, and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is
working with the District Attorney’s office to take down the vigilante.
Meanwhile, flashbacks to the island show Slade (Manu Bennett), Shado
(guest star Celina Jade) and Oliver in a desperate situation. John
Behring directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti and teleplay by
Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim (#201)

Season two already? I need to catch up.
It's too bad they don't have this on Netflix so I could watch it.
Time flies Alex. It's not on Netflix yet, but you can watch it on Cwtv.com or Hulu. I'd start with "Honor thy father" but they're all good.
It's a shame it's not there Pat but you can watch some of them the web and Hulu. See below 🙂

I've been waiting too long for this! Arrow completely surprised me. I watched the pilot fully prepared to rip on it the entire time, then tell all my buddies how much it sucked.
Well, it really grabbed me, and now I tell everyone how awesome it is. The villain appearances from last season were great, and now it looks like they're going to top themselves.
I'm glad I gave this show a chance. I didn't think they could do it, but they proved me wrong!
