Star Wars ‘Madness’ Tournament Update

So if you’ve been following Star Wars’ March Madness, uh, This is Madness Tournament, I thought this would be a good time to calibrate. If you haven’t, now’s the time to get on-board. Here’s the bracket as it stands today:

On the light side, there aren’t too many surprises:

• Han Solo shot out Lando, that slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler.
• Obi-Wan won the duel against Qui-Gon Jinn – the learner is now the master
• Chewbacca beat Wicket like a stormtrooper helmet.
• R2-D2 disassembled C-3PO
• Leia strangled Padme. As an old-school Star Wars fan, I’m happy about that. The metal bikini wins out every time.

The Dark Side had some more interesting match-ups

• Darth Vader beat Grievious at arm wrestling
• Darth Maul sliced Asajj
• Jabba the Hutt ate Salacious Crumb, as it should be. No way that little guy can take down Jabba.
• Cad got the drop on Hondo
• Boba Fett fired Dengar
• Jango Fett disintegrated Bossk
• Count Dooku made a mess of Grand Moff Tarkin

Tonight’s match-ups are:

• Ahsoka Tano vs. Captain Rex – I predict Ahsoka winning this one. While Captain Rex is awesome, I can barely tell the clone troopers apart. Plus, Ahsoka is a Jedi.
• Palpatine vs IG-88 – This seems like a slam-dunk in favor of Palpatine. I wouldn’t even put IG-88 against R2-D2 to win.

Here are the upcoming match-ups with my predictions:

The suspense is building for the final battle on April 9! We’re still giving away a hardcover copy of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire, 20th Anniversary Edition to the winner. This is considered the best story in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It’s rumored the new movies will be based on them, so this is a great chance to catch up .
