The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, showed a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. Most of the shots have been seen before, but there are a couple of new ones.
First, the new trailer.
With all the jump cuts and lens flares, you may have missed a few things. Here are some screencaps.
Official Synopsis
“When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes–a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)–who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.”

A lot of those images seem dark and fuzzy. It makes me wonder how well the movie will look in 3D since I hear that usually makes the film darker.
They are really hyping up this movie.
If the theater uses digital, then the 3D doesn't make it darker. I've been to theaters that don't and the glasses are different – and heavier and darker – and the movie itself is darker.
I don't think anyone is going to be sitting down over tea and having a friendly chat the Kaiju monsters who'll strike when we least expect it. At least thats how I'd direct the movie.
I'd not heard of this really until the trailer. Now my nephew and I are dying to see it. Especially since it stars two of my fave actors Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba. Don't think I'll do 3D, though. The tech makes my head hurt and my stomach queasy.
Robots and monsters Melissa. What's not to like? I've heard of Elba, but not Hunnam. What did you like him in?
"Attack of the Tea And Crumpets" probably wouldn't sell tickets SpacerGuy. 😉
