Your Turn: What is the Hunger Games? [Poll]

The movie The Hunger Games (2012) comes out this week. It’s based on a best-selling series of young adult novels written by Suzanne Collins, but I’d never heard of it before they announced the movie. I don’t know anything about it. A Google search could tell me a lot, but I’d rather hear about it from someone who knows.

So, I’m asking you. The best responses will be collected together into a blog post this Friday.

What can you tell me about The Hunger Games? Have you read the books? What should I know before I see the film?

Sorry, I know next to nothing about the books. Something about the film reminds me of The Running Man though.

    2. Anna Smith on March 19, 2012 12:53 pm

I've never heard of them either.  I can't stop thinking of Harry Potter, did anyone know about him before the movies came out? 😛

Anna, that's a good comparison. You could argue that it's the same thing. Until it jumped from the books to the movies, it was only a cult phenomenon.

    5. Maurice Mitchell on March 19, 2012 7:54 pm

Alex, it's very close to Running Man in terms of a televised death match. Hopefully, we can learn together man!

That is one detailed overview Michael. I'm guessing you don't like the book. 😉

I've read the book before and find it funny how it's suddenly become the "thing to read" just because the movie's come out. Anyway, the book is definitely not worth the hype it's getting, but I DID enjoy reading it even though it wasn't such great literature material.
